Assist Smash: Some of the Assist Trophies become playable with their own idle animations & expanded yet still limited movesets with some moves that they can't do as Assist Trophies & have to fight several clones of the fighters before ending with a boss fight. They're become unlockable in the other modes & are playable in Final Smash's True Ending. Unlimited Mode: Akin to BlazBlue: Central Fiction, every fighter, Assist Trophy, enemy & boss has an Unlimited version of themselves that's unlocked under specific conditions, giving everyone damage buffs, slightly increases their movement speed & removing the startlag & endlag of their attacks & with the bosses becoming just like their EX counterparts.Stealing: Grab an enemy while they are holding an item will cause the item they're holding to be put in your hands. It can be hard to pull off as the timing is a bit strict, but pulling it off allows you to cancel your enemy's throw & cause you to grab them. Grab Reversal: If you're being grabbed & the enemy is about to throw you, tap the opposite direction the enemy is throwing you in to perform a Grab Reversal.Air grabbing is easier to break out of than on the ground, though certain grabs change properties while in the air. Your shield while in the air will take less damage, but attacks will knock you around more than on the ground. Air Shielding & Air Grabbing: Players can now Shield & Grab in the air, allowing for even more options while airborne.8-Way Air Dash: Allows you to dash in all 8 directions.Standard Air Dash: Allows you to dash forwards or backwards. You can only perform 1 Air Dash after leaving the ground. After an air dash, you can cancel the attack into an aerial. This is great for maneuvering through the air, dodging attacks or getting closer to an enemy. Air Dashing: A new ability that many characters can perform, inputting a dash motion in the air allows you to perform a short Air Dash.Character Overhauls: Many of the game's veterans have received reworks to their movesets or entire overhauls in order to make those characters feel more modern & mesh well with newer characters.Alongside those, the player can also Jump & utilize platforms scattered around stages, Shield against attacks, Grab enemies & toss them around, utilize a wide variety of Items that spawn on stage or unleash a powerful Final Smash if they have broken a Smash Ball or filled up their Final Smash Meter. Players have access to Normal attacks & Special attacks, which change depending on if they are in the air or the ground & what direction they are holding the control stick. Unlike other fighting games, each character controls virtually the same. Getting launched off-screen results in a KO & a point for whoever landed the final blow. When players are damaged, their percentage goes up, increasing the distance in which they are launched. Unlike other fighting games, which often have a health system, by default, it uses a percentage system. series as it's a fighting game for up to 16 players in which characters from Nintendo games & other 3rd & 4th-party franchises try to knock each other out of an arena. ![]() Ultimate: Definitive Edition plays very similarly to past games in the Super Smash Bros.
